The Mary Tyler Moore Show

Ah, Mary Richards — the single girl's '70s icon. We loved that Mary was always pretty and professional, which wasn't always the case back then. MTM and her alter ego convinced us that we were indeed going to make it after all ... with really great hair to boot.

The Brady Bunch

No doubt we could always relate to Jan's jealousy over big sister Marcia's pretty locks. (Though to be fair, Jan's weren't too shabby either.) The shine, the length, the color ... it was pretty much perfect.

WKRP In Cincinnati

Loni Anderson's Jennifer Marlowe was the blonde bombshell receptionist at the fictional radio station, and she sure fit the part. Her platinum, feathered hair just screamed, "Look at me!" And a nation did.

Laverne & Shirley

Almost as memorable as the show's theme song (Schlemiel, Schlimazel, anyone?) were the girls' cropped, poufy cuts. We would like to note the serious lift at the back of the crown ... it just may be making a comeback.

Married With Children

Peg Bundy's hair was high. Very, very high. Many props to the hairstylist who teased it to architectural proportions on a regular basis. It made daughter Kelly's look tame by comparison.

Designing Women

Four southern women with big personalities and even bigger hair? Yes, please. We looked forward to the barbs and the 'dos every week from the ladies of the Sugarbaker design firm. And we will never forget the true night the lights ... went out ... in Georgia!

The Cosby Show

Denise Huxtable (Lisa Bonet) was always the wild card of Claire and Cliff's brood. And she often expressed her creativity with her hair. We especially love this super-cropped cut, though the dreads she sported in later seasons were pretty groovy, too.

Moonlighting

Maddie Hayes (Cybill Shepherd) looked every bit the former fashion model when she walked into the Blue Moon Detective and met her new partner, David Addison (Bruce Willis). Her hairstyle perfectly matched her previously luxe lifestyle.

Who says you can't sport a cute bob, while saving lives in Vietnam? Certainly not Dana Delaney's Nurse Colleen McMurphy. Though, in all seriousness, the no-fuss look really is the only option.

The Facts of Life

Blair Warner (Lisa Whelchel) may have been a spoiled little rich girl on the early seasons of the show. But we sure did covet her hair. It made her the perfect foil to tomboy Jo (Nancy McKeon).

Not only did Jaime Sommers (Lindsay Wagner) have amplified hearing, a crazily strong right arm and super-human speed, but her hair was also otherworldly. What we wouldn't have given for locks that thick!
