Makeup pros often use contouring techniques to define celebrities' features and mask puffiness. Here's the best DIY strategy: "Sweep a dark bronzer under your cheekbones and along your jawline, then blend a liquid highlighter under your eyebrows and along the tops of your cheekbones," says celebrity makeup artist Rosie Johnston who works with Minka Kelly. Finish with a "sweep of light bronzer to blend it all in."

For a slimming 'do, go for a side part. If you have bangs, style them so they fall diagonally across your face. This will help minimize the width of a round face and make your cheekbones pop. Set your style in place with a brushable hairspray, which will hold the look while adding volume.

When blow-drying, use a flat paddle brush and hold the nozzle of the blow dryer directly above your hair to set your ends in a straighter shape.

We know it's tempting to wear lots of glittery makeup during the holidays, but the more light your face reflects, the bigger your features will look, potentially making any puffy areas appear worse. Instead, stick to semi-matte and matte formulas and neutral colors for eyes, cheeks and lips. We love the Tarte Glamazon lipstick in Pure, a pretty light rose color, which doesn't look overly shiny on lips and stays put.
