How Do You Define Cheating?

Is flirting cheating? What about cuddling? Making out? While the answer to these questions may be a no-brainer in your mind, the opposite sex could have a different take.

In a recent survey of over 2,700 singles, 100 percent of women said  kissing is cheating, while 86 percent of men believed the same, report our friends at Your Tango. The divide is even greater when it comes to digital flirtation: 82 percent of women believe texting or online flirting counts as infidelity; 56 percent of men agreed.

To help make sense of things, Your Tango turned to an objective source: Merriam-Webster. The dictionary's definition of cheating: "To deprive of something valuable by the use of deceit or fraud." Hmm... but what does "valuable" mean? Is your affection and emotional intimacy with another person valuable? If you share it with someone else are you depriving your partner? And if you don't tell them is that deceit?

The bottom line: The definition of cheating is going to vary from person to person and from relationship to relationship. How others define it doesn't matter, as long as you and your partner are on the same page.
