Mila Kunis wins my vote for best overall look of the night. From her gorgeous updo to her pale purple dress. Stylist Mara Roszak for Tresemmé used Naturals Mousse on wet hair before drying it, curling pieces and creating a "S" wave near the face.

Sandra Bullock

I, for one, was happy to see Sandra ditch the heavy bangs for the Oscars. Her stylist, David Babaii for Couture Colour, called the look "Texture Infusion." He twisted half-inch sections all over her head then flat-ironed the strand to set the wave.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese went very '60s mod with her hair for this year's ceremony. Stylist Renato Campora was inspired by her dress in his decision to create this super-high ponytail. And there was obviously a lot of teasing involved to create that height.

Nicole Kidman

I was a huge fan of Nicole Kidman's dressy ponytail. Stylist David Babaii for Couture Colour wanted the look to be playful with a hint of Bridgitte Bardot. The key is in creating some lift at the crown of the head.

I simply loved Natalie Portman's romantic, sideswept waves. Frédéric Fekkai stylist Didier Malige used a one-inch curling iron before backcombing the bottom layers and pinning the hair to the left side with bobby pins.

Michelle Williams's Jean Seberg-esque hairstyle is nothing short of perfection. I kind of hope she never grows her hair long again.

I wasn't a fan of the dress, but Melissa Leo's updo was a different story. Stylist Creighton Bowman for Leonor Greyl used Gel a la Keratine, an alcohol-free styling gel, to hold all of the tiny curls around her hairline in place.

Simplicity sometimes is the best choice for big events, proven here by Jennifer Lawrence. Her red Calvin Klein sheath is complemented perfectly by her hair. I love that she wore it down and let it be voluminous, shiny and coveted by everyone I know.

Helen Mirren rarely makes a beauty misstep and the Oscars was no exception. Her short gray hair looks chic and even better, totally wearable and easy for other women to copy.

Where Michelle Williams went the smooth route with her short cut, Halle Berry opted for spiky. And it totally works without looking weird or too edgy for such a glamorous occasion.
