How I got over my ridiculous obsession with ridding my entire body of hair
The great Nora Ephron once said, "Oh, how I regret not having worn a bikini for the entire year I was 26."
Around the time I turned 25, I began to realize that I was too damn young to hate the way I looked. The whole point of my hair removal was to allow me to show some skin, but the damage it was doing to my skin stood in my way.
After spending more years in this body, I've realized that the problem I expended so much time "fixing" and worrying over really isn't that bad. I still shave my legs and arms, but if you look closely—and I mean really closely—you'll see the hair that forms a V on my upper back and a faint trail on my stomach. Sure, there's a little hair on the sides of my face, too.
But, I've come to a truce with this slightly hirsute body of mine and have made a commitment to my future self: No amount of hair is going to keep me from showing a little skin while I still can.
