Schedule your important meetings for the time between Monday and Wednesday. Thursday is auspicious, but only if you have everything organized down to the teensiest detail. Otherwise, people will find too many reasons to say no. It won't help to rehearse your presentation. You could come on too strong this weekend. It's not as much about assertiveness as chronic gushiness. You over-compliment. And, even though you are sincere, it just doesn't sound that way.
