Geeking out at the Consumer Electronics Show
- Geeking out at the Consumer Electronics ShowBy Andie HuberThe Consumer Electronics Show, held in Las Vegas every January, featured some 20,000 new hi-tech products, including an 85-inch TV, dancing robots and the iPotty. (We couldn't make this stuff up if we tried.) In case you missed the Coachella of the gadget world, we're counting down the ten most unexpected and over-the-top discoveries from the big event.http://static1.glo.com/photos/Original/134239_Original.jpg
- Geeking out at the Consumer Electronics ShowTVs were, of course, huge—as in ginormous, with an 85-inch flat screen from Samsung. The TV is 4K, or ultra high-definition, offering an image so vivid and detailed that it makes regular HD look like an old boob tube, in comparison. Of course, Samsung's flat screen has a gigantic price tag to match its size: Yours for only $38,000.http://static.glo.com/photos/Original/134238_Original.jpg
- Geeking out at the Consumer Electronics ShowIn the past, the CES and the AVN Adult Expo used to run simultaneously and it seems like Trojan has managed to combine grown-up pleasure with the digital health category by showcasing their new cross-over products, the Tri-Phoria Intimate Massager and Pulse Vibrators. At CES, 9,000 of the buzz toys were given away—gratis. In case your interest is piqued, you can now purchase these at your local CVS or on Amazon—if you aren't ready to carry the box up to the cash register.http://static2.glo.com/photos/Original/134229_Original.jpg
- Geeking out at the Consumer Electronics ShowAlthough Tosy technically unveiled its portable speaker that transforms into a dancing robot last year, the 2013 mRobo offers a slew of improvements, including pre-programmed moves from Dancing With the Stars champ Derek Hough. Shall we dance?http://static.glo.com/photos/Original/134230_Original.jpg
- Geeking out at the Consumer Electronics ShowAs technology continues its march into the future, things of the past still resonate with us. Nothing complements these two concepts better than Verso's Scholar Notebook Cover. Nostalgia reigns as the classic black-and-white marbled notebook exterior coupled with the blue-and-white lined interior paper cleverly hides an iPad.http://static1.glo.com/photos/Original/134237_Original.jpg
- Geeking out at the Consumer Electronics ShowFitbit, a company that integrates fitness and technology, introduced the Flex: a colorful wristband that can go everywhere you go (even into the shower). It calculates activity level, tracks your sleep and can be used as an alarm (it buzzes gently to wake you up). But its most impressive feature? It can track your steps even if your arms aren't moving—critical for moms and dad who may be pushing strollers to stay fit.http://static2.glo.com/photos/Original/134235_Original.jpg
- Geeking out at the Consumer Electronics ShowFile this under What will they think of next?: The iPotty for iPad, which comes with a plastic sheet to protect the tablet from germs, is designed to keep your toddler entertained and make toilet training more fun. Still no word on whether an iDiaper, to keep infants entertaining while you change them, is in the works.http://static1.glo.com/photos/Original/134231_Original.jpg
- Geeking out at the Consumer Electronics ShowIf you're eating fast, chances are you're overeating, which leads to weight gain. To help you slow down and enjoy your food, the Hapifork has an indicator light that goes off when you're eating at full speed. More information can be gleaned about your noshing habits via the USB within the silverware and uploaded to your computer.http://static.glo.com/photos/Original/134234_Original.jpg
- Geeking out at the Consumer Electronics ShowPhones and tablets have joined together and created an entirely new genre of technology: the phablet. Larger than a phone but smaller than a tablet, this phablet has an LCD screen, high resolution at 240 pixels per inch, fancy processors and fast battery charges. The screens of most of these bad boys are clocking in at five plus inches with Huawei's Ascend Mate leading the pack at 6.1 inches. That's a full 2.1 inches bigger than Apple's iPhone 5. Question is, will it fit in your back pocket?http://static.glo.com/photos/Original/134233_Original.jpg
- Geeking out at the Consumer Electronics ShowWhile it's technically not a product, we'd be remiss in not telling you that the single most notable offering at the electronics show was the excess of potential male suitors. With men easily outnumbering women 100 to 1 (possibly more), these are the kinds of odds we like in Vegas. Ka-ching!http://static2.glo.com/photos/Original/134232_Original.jpg
- Geeking out at the Consumer Electronics ShowThe Japanese company Necomini has unveiled its cat headband with ears you can move—with your mind. Your brain's electrical impulses are picked up by the sensor's headband—the ears respond by perking up when you're concentrating or dropping down when you're relaxed. And when you're in a zone, both relaxed and focused? They wiggle.http://static.glo.com/photos/Original/134236_Original.jpg

5 of 11As technology continues its march into the future, things of the past still resonate with us. Nothing complements these two concepts better than Verso's Scholar Notebook Cover. Nostalgia reigns as the classic black-and-white marbled notebook exterior coupled with the blue-and-white lined interior "paper" cleverly hides an iPad.
On Track
6 of 11Fitbit, a company that integrates fitness and technology, introduced the Flex: a colorful wristband that can go everywhere you go (even into the shower). It calculates activity level, tracks your sleep and can be used as an alarm (it buzzes gently to wake you up). But its most impressive feature? Have a Seat
7 of 11File this under "What will they think of next?": The iPotty for iPad, which comes with a plastic sheet to protect the tablet from germs, is designed to keep your toddler entertained and make toilet training more fun. Still no word on whether an iDiaper, to keep infants entertaining while you change them, is in the works.
Mega Bites

Size Matters

Finding Mr. Right
10 of 11While it's technically not a product, we'd be remiss in not telling you that the single most notable offering at the electronics show was the excess of potential male suitors.
