Hump Day Happy Hour

This Grand Slam Concoction Hits the Sweet Spot

By Julie Fishman

Whether you're watching Wimbledon for Swiss superstar Roger Federer as he attempts his seventh title, or to see which Williams sister will dominate, keep a glass of this Brit-inspired cocktail in hand. You'll be swaying to The Beatles and toasting to merry old England in no time.

Designed exclusively for Glo readers by the bartenders at Rush Street in Culver City, Calif., “Strawberry Fields” is both sweet and sour, much like a second place finish at this Grand Slam tournament. (Wimbledon rewards its singles champions with a nearly $1,500,000 paycheck — not too shabby for a week's work!) Even if you're not a tennis ace, we suggest you tune in to ogle Rafael Nadal as he rocks his signature capris and bandana, a normally questionable look that the sizzling Spaniard pulls off with ease.

"Strawberry Fields"

Ingredients:

2 oz Absolut Citron

1/2 - 3/4 oz of lemon juice

1/4 - 1/2 oz of simple syrup

3/4 oz of prosecco (or champagne)

1 sliced strawberry

Directions:

Muddle two to three pieces of fresh strawberry and a dash of simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add Absolut Citron and fresh lemon juice, then shake. Pour into a chilled martini glass with sugar-coated rim. Float the prosecco or champagne on top of the cocktail.

“Strawberry Fields” was designed by the bartenders at Chicago-inspired hot spot Rush Street, located in Culver City, CA.
