Hump Day Happy Hour
A Cocktail In Honor Of The Return Of Weeds
By Julie FishmanFormer soccer mom turned drug dealer Nancy Botwin is back for another season of Showtime sensation Weeds this coming Monday at 10 PM ET/PT. A homicidal end to season five left us wondering just how much thicker blood is than water — stave off the anxiety by trying a “Desert Peach,“ the herb-infused cocktail made just for Glo by the bartenders at L.A. gastropub, The Yard.
Unlike Weeds, the “Desert Peach“ is light, fresh and smooth, allowing you to inch back from the edge of your seat and enjoy the trials and tribulations of a suburban family that's anything but cookie-cutter (unless, of course, those cookie are enhanced, if you know what we mean). With angry-girl of the ‘90s Alanis Morrisette coming back to guest star for this sixth season, we don't think another award nod would be “ironic” at all.
“Desert Peach”
Ingredients:
Half a peach
8 Mint leaves
¼ of a lemon
.5 oz. Simple syrup (made by stirring equal parts sugar and hot water)
2 oz. Vodka
Directions:
Muddle the peach, mint, lemon and syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add your favorite vodka, shake and strain the contents over cracked ice (small pieces, but not as fine as crushed). Add a mint sprig to garnish.
The Yard is located in Santa Monica, CA and features food by Top Chef: Miami contestant CJ Jacobson.
