Hump Day Happy Hour
A Bubbling Brew for Halloween
By Julie FishmanHalloween falls on a Sunday this year, which means we have an entire weekend to celebrate the holiday of horror.
If you have little ones, the extended schedule may sound like a real terror — nothing is more tiring than trick-or-treating with sugar-infused kiddies and then getting up for work the next day.
Once the tykes tinker out, celebrate like an adult with a “Blood Orange Pisco Sour,” created for Glo by bartender Trudy Thomas. If you're hosting a booh-tastic bash, serving the “Blood Orange Pisco Sour” will make you a Halloween hotshot, earning you more attention than all those risqué costumes you wore as a teenager ever could.
“Blood Orange Pisco Sour”
Ingredients:
2 oz Don César Pisco
½ oz Blood orange puree
1 oz Lemon juice
1 oz Simple syrup
½ oz Egg whites
3 drops Peychaud's Bitters
Directions:
Combine the first five ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice and shake vigorously — keep in mind that all egg white drinks need to be shaken longer. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Add three to four drops of Peychaud's Bitters, then swirl to pattern.
