A Potion in Honor of Harry Potter

This Friday marks the beginning of the end of the Harry Potter series, when the first of the two-part final movie hits theaters. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 follows Harry and his homies as they set out to find and destroy the secret to evil Voldemort's immortality.

Not so long ago, two adults conversing about wizardry would be considered pretty peculiar. But since author J.K. Rowling came along, talking about Muggles and Quidditch has become not just acceptable, but mainstream. If your inner nerd is crying at the thought of fantasy returning to the fringe, we've got the elixir for you: a “The Samurai Sorcerer” created by the staff at TY KU Asian Wine & Spirits.

Inspired by the “butterbeer” found throughout the Potter series, this week's cocktail combines butterscotch with a low-calorie vodka alternative … allowing you to feel like you're at Hogwarts without feeling like a hog.

“The Samurai Sorcerer”

Ingredients:

1.5 oz. TY KU Soju*

1 oz. Butterscotch Liqueur

1 oz. Orange juice

Splash of club soda

Directions:

Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake and pour into a rocks or highball glass filled with ice.

*TY KU Soju is a modern, calorie-conscious update of the ancient Asian beverage. It's available at bars, restaurants and liquor stores throughout the country.

  • This drink is fit for a wizard!
