Say "Salud!" to Cinco de Mayo With This Sweet Spirit
By Julie FishmanWhat started as a tribute to Mexico's victory at The Battle of Puebla (1862) has evolved into a full-blown celebration of all things Mexican… including the mouth-watering margarita. Shaken, frozen or straight up, nothing's more refreshing than this salt-rimmed spirit.
With millions of basic margarita recipes on the Web, we thought we'd treat our readers to something unique: a margarita that replaces tequila with pisco, a Latin libation that's native to Peru. Floral and fruity with hints of white pepper, pisco makes a margarita sweet but spicy with a nice, long finish.
The experts at Pisco Portón helped us create a “Watermelon Peruvian Margarita” that'll inspire you to yell out a Cinco de Mayo “salud!” on behalf of Mexico and Peru.
Even if you're a by-the-book babe, we sincerely suggest you give this matchless margarita a try.
