Puck has catered the Governor's Ball for nearly two decades and he's constantly inventing fresh culinary creations. After taking a sneak peek at some of the desserts that Puck and his team will be serving, we were so wowed by his confections we asked four of the country's top party pros to design an at-home Oscar bash inspired by each one. See how they did it.

    The film version of the beloved Broadway hit Les Misérables is nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It's no surprise then that Wolfgang Puck opted to serve macarons, a decidedly French confection. But these are no ordinary cookies. His version is fat-free, gluten-free and made with fresh fruit.

    To create a French-themed fete worthy of the elegant macarons, Debi Lilly of A Perfect Event recommends setting up a tasting bar with different vintages of Champagne, such as brut and rosé, as well as a few fun French liqueurs like St. Germain and Chambord. Pair the bubbly with a charcuterie board and miniature croque monsieurs and fill your playlist with Hotel Costes, Lilly's favorite French-style lounge tunes. They instantly transport your guests across the Atlantic and create a festive atmosphere, she says.

    In keeping with the French theme, Puck whipped up another French dessert, crystal vacherin, a crisp meringue layered with buttermilk cake, farmers' market strawberries and cream. Puck's design inspiration for this particular pastry came in the form of the sparkling six-tier, 120-foot chandelier built specifically for the Governor's Ball.

    Los Angeles party pro Lisa Gorjestani of Details Event Planning describes this decadent dessert draped in crystals as classically opulent. As a result, she proposes an elegant event with lots of reflective surfaces and candles. She suggests mixing mercury glass votive holders with glass pedestal pillar candle-holders accented with crystals on the edge. I'd tie crystals around each guest's napkin, she says. Like Lilly, Gorjestani would opt for Champagne, but garnish each glass with a gold flake and mini gardenia.

    Looking to keep the young and young-at-heart happy, Puck will be serving up Concord grape-flavored lollipops too. It seems safe to assume that 9-year-old nominee Quvenzhané Wallis (from Beasts of the Southern Wild) will appreciate the whimsical touch.

She recommends making chicken pot Pi, in honor of the nominated film Life of Pi, in miniature form along with a variety of fun, fizzy drinks. She also suggests creating a line of red balloons leading to your door, an unexpected take on the traditional red carpet.

The color gold in my opinion represents so many aspects of Hollywood—power, success and achievement, he says. Kemble recommends serving Moët Silver Screen Punch, a creation with Moët & Chandon Champagne that includes pink lemonade, pineapple juice and strawberries. He suggests mixing gold, platinum and clear glass dinnerware for a sleek and stylish table setting.
