How To Indulge In Your Guilty Pleasures
-
Caroline Manzo puts the real in The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and her fans relate to the reality star's no-nonsense attitude, focus on family and, above all, abundant common sense. Check back at Glo every Monday as Caroline helps solve your most pressing dilemmas.
The Dilemma: Whether it's indulging in a piece of chocolate cake for dinner, shoe shopping or video game playing, most people—women and men—have a guilty pleasure. Sometimes, however, these pleasures are not always condoned or appreciated by one's spouse. How to do you manage these guilty pleasures with your partner?
Caroline's Ruling: This is an interesting question, only because my answer is probably not what you're expecting.
I've always said that Albert and I aren't perfect, but that we're perfect for each other. And we each have idiosyncrasies that drive one another crazy.
Albert can't fall asleep without the television on (as a reminder, the man gets home from work around 3 a.m.). I read every night before bed, but I usually get a 3 a.m. wakeup call in the form of a very loud television. Does it drive me crazy? Absolutely! The upside is he's home safe, and I'll take the blaring TV over his absence any day.
He's also Mr. Gadget: If there's something new and exciting out there, then he's the first one to have it and acts like a little boy playing with each new toy when it arrives. I will never understand his obsession with technology, but the truth is, the guy works like a dog to provide for his family, and if it a new gadget makes him happy, then so what?
