Superheroes Who Deserve Our Attention

Iron Fist, 1974

This hero has some strong mitts — and they would make for some cool CGI effects on screen. By harnessing his chi into his hands, a guy originally named Daniel Thomas Rand-K'ai becomes uber-powerful and immune to pain. He can also fuse his mind to another person's, allowing him to tap into his or her emotions and memories.

Sif, 1964

This heroine hails from Asgard, a small planet that Norse gods call home. As an Asgardian woman, Sif is blessed with many gifts, including a long life, superhuman strength, immunity to all diseases, resistance to conventional injury, and the most coveted power of all ... a super-fast metabolism.

Moon Knight, 1975

This former cab driver has a sharp mind, to say the least. Not only can he resist those who try to read his thoughts, but he sometimes has prophetic visions. And, like his name implies, upon a full moon this hero is bestowed with enhanced endurance, reflexes and strength.

Firestar, 1981

When she was just 13, Angelica Jones manifested her mutant microwave powers to become Firestar. Her abilities allow her to manipulate microwave energy and create thermal energy blasts, as well as generate almost limitless amounts of heat. And she can fly, too.

Luke Cage, 1972

Talk about a thick skin: Luke Cage’s epidermis is steel hard. Then there are his muscles — not only are they rather large and ripply, but he's so dense he can deflect a bullet and punch through four-inch steel plates.

Black Cat, 1979

Born Felicia Hardy, this cat burglar's daughter made a secret deal with a mobster named Kingpin to obtain her signature power: the ability to give others bad luck. She can subliminally affect probability fields, causing unlucky events to befall her enemies once they're in her line of sight. Not too shabby, if you ask us. And she's got good hair.

Hawkeye, 1965 & Mockingbird, 1971

Check out this power couple: He can throw knives, darts, balls, bolas and boomerangs; while she's got a doctorate in biology, mad martial arts and espionage skills, and the ability to fight with battle staves. Sadly, Mockingbird died protecting hubby Hawkeye in a battle with the villain Mephisto. But with that kind of drama, the movie writes itself!

Doctor Strange, 1963

Born Stephen Vincent Strange, this hero is one of the most powerful sorcerers in the comic book world. Not only can he teleport, cast illusions, project thoughts, and travel through dimensions and time; he can also possess his opponents mentally.
