What his handwriting says about him

Jim, 42: I think the analysis got at some truths about me: I try to be objective and am often skeptical. I suppose I do often look at life from an intellectual standpoint, but I also tend to trust my feelings, and I can be very emotional, too.

Chris, 36: As a writer, and as someone who still writes a lot of handwritten notes, I always feel very determined when I sit down with a pen and paper. I'm single, so 'affectionate' isn't the first word I would use to describe myself, but I know that those around me would definitely say that because I do love a great hug. And I love the meditative description in this analysis, because visualization is a practice that I do apply in my day-to-day life.

According to McKnight, this guy is organized, as indicated by the upper loops and lower loops in his j's, which are fairly equal in width and length. His writing also shows that he has hopes and dreams for the future, though it appears he has turned his back on someone in his past who hurt him, revealed by the reversed lower loops of his f's.

Gary, 29: I pride myself on being very organized and get stressed out when I'm not, so that is true. I definitely have hopes and dreams for the future, so it's nice to know my cursive reflects that. And, I actually have turned my back on a person or two in my past, but I don't know for sure if my handwriting changed afterward, but I suppose it is very possible.

McKnight says that the upper zone of this guy's writing is disproportionately tall, which shows that he's proud and prefers high achievement—even over emotional satisfaction.

Ebby, 23: I'm not sure how she determined I prefer high achievement when my handwriting is worse than a 6-year-old's...but I'll take it as a compliment, and I'd like to think it's true. However, I'd also like to think that emotional satisfaction is still important to me and is part of what motivates my desire to achieve.

The right slant in this sample shows an extroverted quick thinker. Yet, this man seems to be running away from his past, says McKnight. And he has a tendency to hold on to worn-out relationships too long.

Michael, 40: Extrovert? Definitely. I'll also happily accept 'quick thinker.' It would have been nice to get 'genius' and 'destined to be a billionaire,' but you can't have it all, I suppose. I was born in Oklahoma, so I am most certainly running away from my past by living in Los Angeles. Though, I prefer to think of my worn-out relationships as being well-broken-in or 'antiqued.'

This man is charismatic and expressive, McKnight says. Yet, a retraced l—or a closed loop in the l—means that he may be confining himself to the stark realities of life, she says.
