The Shy Loner1 of 9
There's just something about men in tights. Find out what your superhero crush reveals about your type, and the risks of falling for a caped crusader. —Brienne Walsh
Given that Spider-Man's Peter Parker was orphaned at a young age, a romantic relationship is likely important to him. "You may be very attracted to his neediness," says Elizabeth Lombardo, Ph.D., author of A Happy You: Your Ultimate Prescription for Happiness.
Possible Pitfalls: "He'll be very clingy, both literally and figuratively," says Lombardo.
The All American2 of 9
Captain America was engineered to be the perfect guy. He's smart, he's strong, he's brave and he's loyal, all traits that he uses to fight forces of evil. Being drawn to this type may mean that "you love a man who stands up for what he believes in," says Lombardo.
Possible Pitfalls: A guy who's so used to being the hero might start to think that every woman needs saving. There's also a change that despite his good looks and winning qualities, you'll get bored with his utter lack of edge.
The Strong, Yet Silent Type3 of 9
Although Bruce Banner turns green and vicious when he's angry, he's ultimately a gentle, mild-mannered physicist, trying to suppress The Hulk inside him. If you're drawn to him, you may have a thing for vulnerable, tortured men, says Lombardo.
Possible Pitfalls: Anger management issues are an obvious one. Beyond that, Banner's own anxiety about losing control of his emotions will make it difficult for him to truly get close to anyone.
The God-Complex Guy4 of 9
Thor is the reincarnation of the Norse God, giving him the power—and allure—of a deity. "You like someone who's so perfect he's not even human," says Lombardo. His strength and protective nature may be a comfort, especially if you've been hurt in the past.
Possible Pitfalls: Lusting after this type of guy—as in, the type who doesn't actually exist—may be your way of avoiding intimacy. Of course, if you do find your Thor, then "he might not understand your human weaknesses," cautions Lombardo.
The Bleeding Heart5 of 9
The piece of shrapnel lodged near Iron Man's heart doesn't stop him from using his powers to protect and defend others. "He has taken a bad experience and turned it into something positive," says Lombardo. A woman drawn to him appreciates the antihero, the underdog who relies first and foremost on his wits.
Possible Pitfalls: Iron Man's Tony Stark may be a genius with a hi-tech suit, but his superhero status doesn't make him immortal. "He knows he's vulnerable, so he may not allow himself to love you as much as he wants."
The Straight Shooter6 of 9
As the best marksman in the world, Hawkeye will easily find a way to pierce your heart. But even better than his skills with a bow and arrow is his loyalty to the Avengers. "You like a man who's devoted to a team," predicts Lombardo. And because his talents are hard-earned rather than god-given or scientifically-enhanced, he's got regular guy appeal.
Possible Pitfalls: He may be the kind of individual who always feels like he has something to prove, which means he'll have a hard time putting a woman before his work.
The Wild Man7 of 9
Part human and part wolf, Wolverine is endowed with enhanced physical powers—including the ability to rip off your clothes in a single gesture. "You like the animal, raw sexuality about him," Lombardo says. "He's the 'have to have it now' kind of guy, which is very sexy."
Possible Pitfalls: "It can be very tiresome," Lombardo warns. "And if sex is all your relationship is based on, it's not going to last."
The Smooth Operator8 of 9
Not only is Batman a crime fighter, he's also a billionaire playboy. "You may be attracted to wealth," says Lombardo. "And you porbably enjoy the challenge of getting the man who everyone else wants."
Possible Pitfalls: "There will be a lot of competition for his heart, so he'll frequently be tempted by others," says Lombardo.
The Sidekick9 of 9
Robin may forever live in the shadow of Batman, but that doesn't make him any less impressive as a hero and a friend. "You don't like men who need to be the center of attention," says Lombardo.
Possible Pitfalls: Given that Robin is a sidekick, he may lack self-confidence. "He'll probably need constant reassurance."
