Lace dolled up the spring runways, but mostly in creams and crisp whites. That’s why we love Michelle Williams’s take on the trend in this retro Erdem style. Her newly bleached blond hair also adds an edge to this elegant look.

Tied Up

We’re loving spring’s laced-up looks, and Gwyneth Paltrow wears the trend well. At first glance, her Emilio Pucci gown looks minimally chic, but on a second look, it’s slightly scandalous. For those of us who aren’t ready to bare as much as the blond beauty, try out the trend with loosely tied ribbons on a blouse.

Soft, tousled tresses are both romantic and sultry. Here, Eva Mendes wears her loose waves casually swept to the side, a perfect match with her ladylike Lela Rose dress.

Bed Head

We haven’t seen pajama dressing in a while and this season makes it look elegant and effortless. To avoid looking as if you literally rolled out of bed, try teaming a pair of fluid wide-leg pants with a luxe knit top.

Nouveau Japanese

Vibrant, Japanese-inspired pieces like obi belts, kimono coats and satiny separates are a great way to layer on elegance. In order not to overload on festive shades, pick one tone to avoid looking costumey.

A '50s-inspired full skirt is both chic and timeless. Style-setter Alexa Chung wears the ladylike look with ease. We suggest teaming an A-line silhouette with a kitten heel which is both elegant and easy.

Flapper Girl

For a full-blown glamour-puss look, try slicking your strands into sophisticated flapper waves (as seen at Prada). Too much 1920s for you to take? A slicked-back, low, finger-raked bun will be a simpler substitute and one that’s daytime-appropriate as well.
